COLOMBO, JULY 25: The Liberation Tigers blasted a passenger ship docked in Trincomalee in northeast Sri Lanka early this morning, killing its captain, Captain S Arul Nayakam, and injuring a few workers.

Defence Ministry sources said since the ship was berthed after its arrival at Trincomalee yesterday, there were no passengers at the time of the blast except the crew.

The ship with a passenger capacity of 310 was used to ferry people and goods between Trincomalee and Mutur.
