Lion rescued from well

The State Forest Department rescued a lion that fell into an open well near Madhapur village in the district this morning, forest officials said. The two-year-old lion who had strayed into the village, fell into a 60-ft deep open well. Forest officials rushed to the spot. The rescue operation lasted for about three hours. The lion was not injured, said officials, adding the animal was later released in the Gir forest.
