The Ahmedabad blasts on Saturday were a stark reminder of the Jaipur blasts on May 13. In both the attacks, cycles were used as bomb carriers. The blasts occurred in densely populated areas in both the cities. A group called the Indian Mujahideen reportedly sent emails to news channels prior to the blasts. Meanwhile, a senior police officer has been sent to Bangalore following the blasts there on Friday. Police sources said the basic design of the bombs used in Jaipur, Bangalore and Ahmedabad was the same. The bombs were like improvised claymore mines, packed with ball-bearings and set to send shrapnel flying in one direction, they pointed out.According to the police, while the Jaipur blasts were set to cause maximum damage to life, the Bangalore devices were packed in concrete blocks, which absorbed most of the shrapnel, thus keeping the damage to a minimum. However, little headway has been made into the investigation of the Jaipur blasts. Police are yet to find any clue about the perpetrators or their modus operandi.
