The Indian challenge in the weightlifting event of the Games ended without any medal as its last lifter in the fray Shailaja Pujari bowed out with a fifth-place finish in the women’s 75kg category here today.Shailaja managed a total lift of 225.5 kg to cap India’s dismal show in the weightlifting arena. The Indian weightlifter, who had a rich medal haul in the recent Commonwealth Games in Manchester, managed 95 kg in the snatch and 127.5 kg in clean and jerk.China’s Ruiping Sun claimed the gold medal with a total lift of 270 kg while the silver was taken home by Kazkhstan’s Tatyana Khromova with a total of 257.5 kg.South Korea’s Soon Hee Kim had to be content with the bronze medal with a lift of 242.5 kg.
