The story of Lal Bihari, who has already become famous as the ‘living dead’, would soon be depicted on the silver screen. The film, based on the life of Bihari, whose relatives had declared him dead to seize his property, would be directed by Satish Kaushik of Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja fame.To be made both in Hindi and English, the film is likely to have Anil Kapoor in the lead role. The script would be by Imtiaz Hussain. Kaushik told UNI here that in the struggle against corruption, the story of Lal Bihari mritak (dead) as he is called, gives a new message. The story is of a man born in a poor family who not only fights for himself but also for the people in a similar condition (of having been declared dead) to seek justice from society, government and administration and in the end emerges victorious. After Bihari’s parents died when he was young, his relatives proclaimed him ‘dead’ in government records and got his land registered in their names.Bihari got to know of it when he was 14. To seek justice, he moved court and even during court proceedings he was called as ’’Lal Bihari mritak haazir ho’’ (Late Lal Bihari, be present). He then added the word mritak (dead) to his name. To let the world know he was alive he contested the election for Lok Sabha from Amethi against former PM late Rajiv Gandhi. After a 15-year battle in court, Bihari finally managed to get justice.
