Fashionistas the world over, such as Christina Ricci and Victoria Beckham, have been showing off their slim figures in high-waisted skirts. A pencil or an A-line skirt will look elegant with a blouse or a work shirt. Don’t pair a high-waisted skirt with flat shoes or flip-flops. They should only be paired with pumps, stilettos or wedges. Also, don’t wear a high-waisted skirt if you have a short torso. “The high-waisted skirt is best suited for women with long torsos since they do cinch up at the waist and take inches away from your upper body. If you’re short or petite, this look will be difficult to pull off with style,” says designer Nikasha Tawadey. Heavy-chested women should stay away from this look. Since the waist cinches right below the rib cage, it will make you look bigger on the top. However, if you have a thin waist, you can carry off the look. Pair the skirt with a big belt. Since big, wide belts are already in vogue this season, it will look perfect. Also, the belt will help you cinch your waist even further for a slimmer look.
