The left parties in Karnataka have started a state-wide campaign to highlight the ‘dangerous step taken by the Manmohan Singh Government to operationalise the Nuclear Deal with USA’. The CPI, CPI-M and Forward Bloc would hold meetings, and distribute pamphlets to inform the people about the UPA government ‘showing contempt for Parliament disregarding the views of the majority’, said V J K Nair, CPI-M state unit Secretary. The campaign would also highlight the UPA government's economic policies that have ‘led to inflation’ and demands by the left including reducing taxes on petroleum products and stopping futures trading of essential commodities.
