HYDERABAD, July 26: Congress Working Committee member Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy today felt that the collapse of Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition at Centre was imminent and that it was time for the non-BJP political parties to evolve a consensus for offering an alternative.

Talking to reporters at his residence here, he, however, said that the Congress was not in a hurry to seize power but would step in only after the government collapsed under its own weight. The senior Congress leader said that an arrangement has been worked out for floor coordination in the Parliament among the non-BJP parties so that it could, at a later stage, emerge as an alternative to form the government.

Reddy said that the Congress was firm on getting P M Sayeed elected as deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha. Party chief Sonia Gandhi sought the cooperation of Left Front leaders and it was a convention to offer the deputy speaker’s post to the single largest opposition party.
