PUNE, May 3: One fine day while having your daily stroll down to a park in the vicinity, do not be surprised if you suddenly bump into a group of people standing in circle and laughing boisterously looking at each other’s faces. Before the doubts about the sanity of the laughing people crop in your mind check out as the assembly could be a routine meeting of the Laughter Club, which began its operations in the city from Sunday.
Dr Madan Kataria, founder of Laughter Club International, inaugurated the city’s first Laughter Club at the Limca Jogging Park, near Bund Garden on Sunday.
Explaining various benefits while mentioning the yogic techinque of laughter, Dr Kataria describes it as highly effective treatment for stress related disorders like depression, anxiety, insomnia and hypertension.
Saying that the laughter is the best way of releasing the stress and tension, Dr Kataria laments that in the present living conditions people were finding it increasingly difficult to take time out even for laughing for a while.
Supported by his Madhavi, editor of a health magazine Dr Kataria moves around from city to city looking explaining the people the techniques of laughter and different ways to laugh. “Then be it a boisterous outburst of laughter or a giggle, each of them is used to relax different organs of the body” says Dr Kataria.
