England scored 24 without loss in the possible seven overs in reply to Sri Lanka’s 162 on the first day of the second Test against England here at Edgbaston today.

At stumps, both England openers Marcus Treschotick (9) and Michael Vaughan (14) remained unbeaten to carry on the good work done by their medium-pacers earlier in the day after rain had washed out play in the morning session.
