The People’s War Group set a landmine trap for the police in Salboni in West Midnapore this morning and blew up a police jeep. The blast destroyed one of the three police jeeps and left six, including an officer, injured.

According to police sources, Jamirghat police station officer and a team were returning from a search operation when one of the jeeps was targeted near Birkhosa forest area. While two jeeps remained intact, one of them was blown up in the blast, injuring the senior members of the police team.

A few months back, the Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) had set a landmine trap for the police force in Purulia District in Bandowan and the blast had killed an officer.
