RJD President Lalu Prasad gave a 10-day ultimatum to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to clarify his stand on resignation of the state’s MPs and MLAs over alleged atrocities on North Indians in Mumbai.

Instead of shooting off “irrelevant” letters to him, Kumar should clarify as to how long he would continue to play into the hands of the BJP “which is fuelling terrorism in the country”, Prasad told reporters.

Claiming Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and self-proclaimed seer Dayanand Pandey alias Sudhakar Dwivedi had the backing of the BJP, Prasad said, “in my letter to Kumar on November 10, I had sought clarification on this issue as well as mass resignation of all MPs and MLAs to protest MNS’ onslaught on North Indians”, Prasad said.

Charging Kumar with drafting a ‘useless’ letter to him that resignation by all MLAs would pave the way for imposition of President’s rule in the state and a fresh election within six months, Prasad said he had expected a “proper reply” which did not come.

Throwing a challenge to Kumar to put in his papers first, over the issue of safeguarding the “honour” of Bihar, Prasad said he would follow suit.

“Main jabki Hastinapur ki gaddi ko chhorne ke liye taiyar hoon, Nitish Kumar Patliputra ki gaddi chhorne ka moh nahi tyag paa rahe hain (I am ready to quit the throne of Hastinapur, i.e. UPA government, but Kumar is not even ready to abdicate the throne of Patliputra),” Prasad said.
