Laloo air-dashed to remonstrate at the site of the train accident for a couple of hours on Tuesday. But soon after he was done, he flew back to Delhi to catch a special train to Patna to oversee arrangements for the ‘‘Maha Ralla’’ (virile take on rally) on December 23. After a suo motu statement announcing the tragedy in Parliament, Laloo hopped on a plane along with Railway Board members for a site inspection. From Pathankot, he drove down to Mansar where the collision took place. The minister assured the culprits will be booked and announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh for the family of those bereaved with another Rs 4 lakh once the Railway Claims Tribunal verifications were through, and Rs 15,000 for the injured. He also promised jobs to a member of each of the bereaved families. Then he flew back to Delhi to take a special train for Patna around 10 pm.
