London, April 21: Faced with major diplomatic embarrassment over revelations of money paid to maverick labour member of British Parliament, George Galloway, the Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is seeking to invite him to visit the country, as part of the “official damage control”, according to Pakistani media here.

However, media reports said there were questions whether Galloway, after being officially charged by Ehitsab commissioner Saif-Ur-Rehman with receiving three hundred thousand pound sterling from former pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto, would accept the invitation or not.

The News International said that Pakistan’s Petroleum Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ahmed, currently here, was also trying to meet the labour MP in a bid, what the Pakistani media called, to “placate him”. The reports said senior military officials, who could face embarrassment over any further revelations, were pressing Shairf to sack Saif-Ur-Rehman.

Another news that is creating ripples, is a story run bythe British Sunday tabloid News of the World which allegedly reveals Galloway’s “sex escapades” with a Cuban girl on a promise to bring her to England.

The tabloid had alleged that Galloway spent lavishly on the girl while quoting the 18-year-old girl, Judy Longchan Lopez as saying that Galloway had visited Cuba seven times just to see her.

The tabloid alleges the labour MP had impressed the young Cuban girl with his closeness to Cuban strongman, President Fidel Castro. The tabloid also quoted the girl as having said that Galloway has till now paid her over 5,000 US dollars, a fortune in the cash strapped island.

The News of the World in a hard-hitting editorial comment has described the behaviour of the labour member of parliament as outrageous. It said, “Galloway is as quick to drop his trousers as he is to champion dictators.” Saying that Galloway, “can be relied upon to pick up almost any anti-British cause,” the tabloid calls on the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, “the soonerGalloway is shown the door, the better for both the labour and for the country.”

The tabloid claimed that Galloways socialist beliefs were not hampering his business deals. “He is the director of Clifton Pharmaceuticals Limited and director of PoK based Kashmir rice purveyors until June last year,” it alleged.
