VADODARA, April 21: The National Dairy Development Board Chairman Dr V Kurien has hailed the Karnataka government’s initiative in declaring a policy on co-operatives, which advocates removing all restrictions, controls and regulations on the co-operatives through amendments in the Co-operatives Act.
Kurien, member of the Co-operative Initiative Panel (CIP), in a statement issued from Anand on Monday stated that this bold declaration was a step in the right direction to depoliticise and debureaucratise co-operatives.
CIP member and former chairman of the Planning Commission, Mohan Dharia, responding to a recently concluded conference in Bangalore on `Declaring the State Policy on Co-operatives’ said that the step will revive the co-operative movemment in the State.
The CIP, an advocacy organisation for co-operatives, comprises present High Commissioner of South Africa L C Jain, Kurien and Dharia.
