Sharjah, October 29: Match-winning leg-spinner Anil Kumble had been suffering pain and illness in his right shoulder for the last two to three months, Indian team’s physiotherapist Andrew Leipus said in a press note on Sunday.

Leipus said Kumble’s injury could take between two to six weeks to heal and it was possible for him to be fit before the Bangladesh Test in Dhaka on November 10.

“Anil (Kumble) is currently suffering from a very unusual injury in his right shoulder,” Leipus said.

“His symptoms of pain and stiffness are experienced while performing both bowling and throwing. These symptoms have been present in a very mild form for approximately 2-3 months, yet were acutely aggravated during the match against Sri Lanka.”

Kumble was rested for the second round of matches in the on-going triangular One-Day series here after he was detected to have sore bowling arm shoulder. The statement issued by Leipus said the cause of Kumble’s problem was a bruised bone.

“A thorough investigation by Dr Deepak Bhatia (a local specialist) and a MRI revealed that the cause of Anil’s symptoms was a bruised bone.“This was apparently caused by a fall onto the shoulder, but due to the repetitive throwing and bowling this has never been completely allowed to heal”, saidLeipus.
