The day after the stampede that claimed 33 lives near Ramkund, relatives lined up at the morgue of the Nashik Civil Hospital to claim the bodies. By Thursday evening, 25 of the 33 bodies had been identified and 18 were claimed by their relatives.
Nashik Collector Mahesh Zagade today sent a report to Maharashtra Governor Mohammed Fazal about the stampede. It is learnt he has mentioned the police version that sadhus throwing coins caused the stampede.
Apart from the coins, the report said a narrow road and its incline were also responsible. Zagade said the truth would come out in the magisterial inquiry.
