NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 2: Contrary to reports suggesting that foreign tourists were facing some threats in Himachal Pradesh, British National Martin Young, who was seriously injured in Kullu during trekking, today said the attack on his team, although "pre-meditated", was a "simple case of robbery".
"It was a random attack … completely unprovoked. But it was a simple case of robbery," 33-year old Young, undergoing treatment at the city’s premier Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, said.
Young and his team were attacked by miscreants on the night of August 25 inside their tent at Tundaghosh village leaving the Briton with fractures in ribs, skull and jaws.
Young, whose condition is now stated to be stable and improving, said the attack was "totally unprovoked".
Narrating the incident, an emotionally surcharged Young, who works with a private firm as an engineer here, gave details of how his Spanish fiancee Maria Maqueles and her son Christovell were brutually assaulted. Both had later succumbed to injuries.
"It was all of a sudden …. The attack came from all directions. We could not even resist …The more we screamed the more they were beating us," he said.
