CHANDIGARH, Jan 25: Kuljinder Singh of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, upset the apple cart of Deepak of LNIPE, Gwalior, to win the gold medal in the men's below 71 kg category on the third day of the All India Inter-University judo (men and women) championship being played here at the Panjab University Gymnasium Hall.On papers, it was Deepak who was better of the two. But he committed a blunder and had to settle for silver medal.On the other hand Kuljinder grabbed the opportunity that came his way and outclassed Deepak to win the bout in 50 seconds. It was the quickest contest of the day.Harpreet Singh of Chandigarh and Dinesh of MDU Rohtak were joint third.In the other two finals held in the men's section, host judokas had to settle for second positions. Kulbahadur Thapa of Mumbai University beat Mandeep Singh (PU), to win gold in the below 55kg while Tarseem Lal of Punjabi University, Patiala, was victorious in the below 65kg category. He got the better of Chander Shekhar (PU).However, in the women's group, PU continued their good run in the meet.
