POONDI, July 16: The long-awaited Krishna water entered Chennai’s drinking water distribution system a few minutes after 3 PM today, marking a historic occasion for the water-starved city. Water from the Sathyamurthi Sagar reservoir in Poondi was let out into the newly-laid link canal to the Red Hills reservoir by State PWD Minister Durai Murugan. Four days ago, water from the Kandaleru reservoir in AP began flowing to the zero point in TN–Tamaraikuppam.
