FATEHGARH SAHIB, Aug 9: In connection with the 56th anniversary of the “Quit India” movement, “Kranti Diwas” was organised here today at the Red Cross Bhavan, in which a number of freedom fighters took part.

Presiding over the function, DC T. R. Sarangal disclosed that portraits of patriots belonging to the area would be displayed at the Shahid Udham Singh memorial. Earlier, paying homage to freedom fighters, Sarangal said that people should fight against the challenges being faced by the country on the social, economic and political fronts. District president SAD(B) Swaran Singh and SAD Youth Wing secretary general Karnail Singh Panjoli also spoke on the occasion.

Security Tightened: Keeping in view the Independence Day celebrations, tight security arrangements have been made in the district, SSP Paramraj Singh Dhaliwal said. Special naqas have been erected at all important places and additional police personnel have been deputed for 24-hour patrolling in rural and urban areas.
