CHENNAI, July 22: The Madras High Court has dismissed the petition of the All Merchants Association calling for a direction to the Chennai Corporation to renew the licence of Kothwal market. The court held that the association did not challenge the validity of the notification for shifting of the wholesale market to Koyembedu nor did they claim any right to run the market. Neither did they challenge the Corporation's move to stop renewal of licence as they were aware that the market was not in proper condition and the goverment's move was only to decongest the area. If fact a large number of wholesale dealers had already shifted to Koyambedu, the court held.
