MUMBAI, April 4: It was a rather special day for golfer Kishore Musale at the 80th Western India Addicts Golf tournament at the links United Services Club, Colaba today. Special, not only because he was the day's highest scorer, he also happens to be the Managing Director of Classic Stripes the sponsors of the two-day event.Playing with a handicap of 18, Musale finished the first nine with a score of 19. He had a better back nine and finished with a total of 40 points firing one nett eagle and five nett birdies.It is essentially a team of four stableford tournament on full handicap over 18 holes. The three best scores of a team being used to determine the winners. The prospects of Musale's efforts bearing fruit depends on his team-mates who will tee-off tomorrow.The next best score of 38 were turned in by SN Trivedi and Wg Cdr KV Bhavnani. Trivedi, also playing with a handicap of 18, picked up 20 points over the first nine. He fired one nett eagle and five nett birdies.Bhavnani, handicap 26, had abetter back nine with 20 points. He shot five nett birdies for his 38. A record number of 320 golfers have participated in this year's event.Rumania in quartersTwo second-half strikes by Rumania sealed Zico Pele's hopes of a quarter-final berth with a 2-0 win in the pre-quarter-finals of the 18th Brother Paulus Soccer Tournament played at the St Francis D'Assisi Ground, Borivli.Rumania took the lead in the 35th minute when Trevor Rodrigues converted a 30-yard shot. Aldrin Lobo increased the margin with a 47th minute strike off a pass by Gaston D'Costa.In the other pre-quarter final encounter Holiday Inn earned their place amongst the final four with a 2-0 win over fellow hotelier, Oberoi Towers. Anis Kanchan got the winners an early breakthrough (6th minute), netting off a header.
