Kinjal Patel’s heroics go in vain

Patel, was largely instrumental in restricting the Bandra boys’ innings after they had resumed the day on 218-5. Bowling an impressive spell today (4.2-1-7-3), the leggie ended claiming six wickets for 107 runs.

Ameya Waingankar (50: 155b, 8×4) and Amit Sawant’s (65: 90b, 9×4) 75-run association for the sixth wicket was the only batting highlight of the day for IES New English.

Openers Patel (57: 109b, 11×4) and the diminutive Bravish Shetty (31: 117b, 4×4) gave a fitting reply byraising a century stand. But once, Waingankar dismissed Patel, the floodgates opened. While Waingankar went to claim two more victims, leg-spinner Prasanna Sant, brought late into the attack, shared the spoils with figures of 3-23.
