FEBRUARY 19: Third seed Tuomas Ketola of Finland claimed his third ATP Challenger Tennis singles title by scripting a comfortable straight-set victory over unseeded Israeli Andy Ram at the South Club on Saturday. The lanky and composed Ketola, ranked 164 in the World, carved out a facile 6-1, 6-3 victory in 55 minutes to take home the winner's purse of $ 3,600.Ram, however, had the consolation of winning the doubles title along with compatriot Nir Welgreen after their French opponents Gregory Carraz and Guillaume Marx conceded the match early in the first set.The Israeli pair was leading 2-1 in the first set when their French challengers conceded the match due to a shoulder injury sustained by Marx. Ram and Welgreen were richer by $ 1,550.Ketola, who hopes to break into the top 100 by the end of this season, said that his opponent seemed to be a little nervous in the initial stages which allowed him to consolidate his position.``I thought he was a little nervous in the early stages since it was his first Challenger final. I was very determined to do well and concentrated on my game,'' he explained.
