THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT 3: Kerala, which is touted as a state ahead of other states by 25 years in terms of demographic success, is rapidly ageing with current rate of 180 per cent, says a study.According to a recent survey conducted by the Madras Institute of Ageing, Kerala has 102 old age homes out of the total 529 in the country. South India, which includes Kerala, TN, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh account, for 275 old age homes. According to the 1961 census, the number of those aged 60 and above rose to 2.6 mn in 1991, recording an increase of 160 per cent.
