PUNE, Nov 17: Police Commissioner K K Kashyap has turn from Pune Munciple corporation’s suggestion that the streetlights should be put off on Tuesday night to enable the residents to watch the meteor shower.

“Municipal Commissioner Rajiv Agarwal spoke to me about this on Monday. However, I do not agree to it since putting off the streetlights on a new moon night may cause several problems to citizens,” said Kashyapwhen The Indian Express contacted this afternoon.

“How many of the Puneites are really interested in watching the celestial show? The interested ones should take some trouble and go to isolated places like the University of Pune campus to watch the shower of meteors,” he added.“As it is, people say the crime is on rise. I am not going to leave the city in the hands of anybody by allowing to put off the street-lights,” he said while waving a copy of a newspaper which had a bold headline about dacoity in the rural fringes.
