The Janata Dal (S) now has a chance to get back at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the BMIC project in Bangalore. The talking point is a dinner meeting organised by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises MD Ashok Kheny attended by Veerashaiva Bharatiya Janata Party legislators.‘‘It is a serious issue and we will raise it in the coordination committee meeting,’’ Transport Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy said on Friday. He said that the JD(S) would also speak to Deputy Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa if needed.Chaluvarayaswamy said the JD(S) was clear on its stand on BMIC. ‘‘We want the infrastructure project to be completed. At the same time, we also want to ensure that the lands of the farmers are protected,’’ he said, adding that the government was committed to abide by the Supreme Court order. ‘‘We have been consistent in our stand that the project be completed but the extra land should be taken back from NICE,’’ he said. He, however, refused to comment on the differences in BJP against attending the dinner meeting and said it was BJP’s internal matter. On Wednesday, around 20 Veerashaiva BJP MLAs are said to have attended a dinner hosted by Kheny, where he briefed them about the BMIC project. The meet was allegedly organised by a few legislators said to be close to Yediyurappa. A few legislators who were not aware that the dinner was hosted by Kheny left the venue as soon as the latter entered, sources said. The divide in the BJP is already showing. Objecting to the meeting, Health and Family Welfare Minister and senior BJP leader R Ashok said party president DV Sadanada Gowda should initiate action against those who attended the party. Gowda has already said action would be taken against the legislators.
