Karnataka CM Dharam Singh was caught in an embarrassing position today when he had to withdraw a government decision to acquire the Mysore Palace, which was taken without his consent. At an election meeting in Humnabad, Singh expressed surprise over the action initiated by the authorities to acquire the palace, and directed them to stall the acquisition process immediately. ‘‘It is an emotional and sensitive issue. More so because the Dasara festivities are round the corner,’’ he told reporters. But the CM is stuck in a spat between Congressman and scion of the Mysore royal family Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar and Deputy CM Siddaramaiah. In Bangalore, Wodeyar squarely blamed Siddaramiah for the ‘‘acquisition conspiracy’’.
