Shiv Kapur went on a birdie spree, rolling in as many as nine, as he fired a sensational eight-under 63 — the day's best round — and leap-frogged 95 places to be tied eighth at the halfway stage of the $6.4million French Open in Versailles on Friday. Kapur, who had a round of 75 on Thursday, looked like he was going to miss the cut as he started the day with a bogey on the 10th.However, that proved to be the only blemish and he gained three strokes on the last five holes of the back nine to make the turn at two-under. But it was on the front nine that he really set the course on fire. Kapur fired five birdies on the first five holes and one more to sign off a memorable outing.Kapur now aggregates four-over 138 and is three strokes adrift of the leaders, Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal (70) and David Lynn (65).Jeev Milkha Singh, who was tied fifth after the first round, slipped to tied 28th after going three-over in the second round, while ace pro Jyoti Randhawa also carded a 74 and barely hung in for the weekend action.SSP Chowrasia however missed the cut after carding a yet another 77.Chopra tied fourthMeanwhile in Grand Blanc, Michigan, Daniel Chopra shrugged off the third hole bogey and blasted eight birdies for a round of seven-under 65 that saw the Indian-born Swede placed at tied fourth after the opening round in the $ 5 million Buick Open.Chopra, who mastered his basics at the Delhi Golf Club, got off to a perfect birdie-birdie start before the third hole bogey snapped his rhythm. But he reeled off birdies on the fifth, seventh, eighth, 13th, 15th and 18th to round off a highly satisfying day.
