MUMBAI, September 6: Former Indian captain Kapil Dev extended his tirade against the Haryana Cricket Association (HCA). Speaking to newspersons at the Royal Palms Golf Course here this afternoon, Kapil said he was getting increasingly disturbed over the HCA’s functioning.

“Things have to be more organised and organised properly. Take the elections of the Association. We have had one secretary for the last 23 years and still he could not build even a toilet for the HCA,” blasted the former Indian captain who was in the city to participate in a celebrity golf tournament.

Kapil also expressed his displeasure over the ways in which the HCA sought members. “You pay money and you become a member. We have life members who have not played cricket but still control the game. And then there are people like me who cannot do anything,” he complained.

“Cricket is a religion in this country and we have to revere it. The HCA has Rs 10 crores in the bank but will not build a seat.”

Kapil lashed at the HCA overtheir careless handling of junior cricket. “We should not only conduct Test matches but also look at the under-19 and schools. After all, that is where the future lies. You cannot expect a Sachin Tendulkar to be born everyday. You have to make some too.”
