Skipper Hrishikesh Kanitkar notched an unbeaten century (102) and added exactly 100 runs for the third wicket along with Sitanshu Kotak (36) to help West Zone reach 181 for three wickets in reply to South Zone’s first innings total of 292 at the end of the second day of the four-day Duleep Trophy tie at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday. Kaushik Aphale was at the crease (15) with Kanitkar. Both featured in an unbroken stand of 47 runs for fourth wicket.

Kanitkar taught a few lessons to his teammates with a blemishless 102. He took time to settle down and displayed caution and aggression to phase out his knock commendably. At times he carried distinct punches to crack boundaries.
