The Abhijit Kale episode is set to enter round three in Mumbai as the cricketer’s lawyers take the battle to the Bombay High Court. Kale’s Mumbai lawyer Vinit Naik will be filing a petition in the High Court tomorrow appealing against the Pune District Court’s Saturday order upholding the suspension on the Maharashtra cricketer.
‘‘We received a copy of the District Court’s order this evening, and we have decided to take the matter to the High Court,’’ his lawyer said.
The BCCI is likely to field Maharashtra Advocate-General Goolam Vahanvati as their counsel. The regular BCCI legal advisors have, meanwhile, filed a caveat in the High Court so that Kale cannot go in for an ex-parte appeal, as he did in the Pune Civil court.
The case is likely to be scrutinised and taken up for hearing by Tuesday afternoon.
