CHANDIGARH, June 1: Surinder Singh Kairon, former MP, has, in a statement issued here today, referred to the report "Tarn Taran cakewalk for SAD" (Indian Express, June 1) and denied that he was not in favour of the Akali Dal ticket being given to Tarlochan Singh Tur in the Tarn Taran Lok Sabha bye-election.Kairon, whose son is married to Parneet Kaur, daughter of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, clarified that he had in fact proposed the name of Tur.He asserted he and his son Adesh Partap Singh, MLA, had been actively campaigning in favour of the Akali Dal candidate.It was wrong to say that he was engaged in a cold war with the Chief Minister, the statement added.
