Former Vadodra additional sessions judge, H.U. Mahida, who acquitted 21 accused in the Best Bakery case, has been offered a contractual appointment as legal advisor by the Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB).

GEB sources said the appointment letter and the contract has been dispatched to Mahida. Member (Admn), Guruprasad Mohapatra said: ‘‘Ads were issued after which a list of former senior judges was chalked out. It was only after and all necessary processes completed, he (Mahida) was short-listed.’’

GEB officials denied there was any pressure on them to appoint Mahida. The former ASJ was unable for comment.
