Just a day before polls in Chhattisgarh, Jaspur police arrested Yudhvir Singh Judeo, son of former Union minister Dilip Singh Judeo, on the charges of disturbing public peace in the town, along with 20 other BJP supporters.

Yudhvir — charged in another case of assaulting local Congress workers — was reportedly moving in a convoy along with his supporters, raising slogans. They allegedly threatened some Congress workers too.

This was brought to the notice of the Central Election Observer (CEO), who asked the administration for prompt action. Soon Judeo Jr was intercepted by a police party along with his supporters and arrested on charges of creating nuisance and disturbing public peace, District Collector Gaurav Dwivedi confirmed.

Meanwhile panicked by Chief Minister Ajit Jogi and his son Amit’s continued presence in Marwahi, along with scores of unidentified supporters—mostly outsiders, the BJP has approached the EC, asking for a special watch on pollings

in Marwahi.

The EC also received a separate complaint from Hemwant Porte, an NCP candidate for Marwahi, accusing her rival candidate (Jogi) of getting ‘‘fake pamphlets’’ distributed in the constituency about her retirement from the contest. She has also lodged an FIR. The NCP, in a fax sent to the CEC, has demanded postponement of Marwahi polls by two days.
