CHANDIGARH, Nov 23: Rakesh Jolly’s fine all-round performance (78 and 2 for 25) helped Godrej Club beat State Bank of Patiala by 30 runs to lift the fourth Gursagar Cup cricket championship here today.

Jolly’s whirlwind knock, coupled with useful contributions from Yuvraj Singh and Arun Tuli helped Godrej Club manage a modest-looking total of 187.

However, the Godrej left-arm spinners, Girish Bhanot and Yuvraj Singh took three wickets each as the team successfully defended their total. For a while, SBP were in with a chance when Suraj Salhotra (42) and Rakesh Rehni (33) were on song but once Bhanot and Yuvraj tightened screws around them, the side crumbled.
