Former Bihar Governor Rama Jois and educationist Prabhakar Kore have been named BJP candidates for the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka while party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy has been named as the Rajya Sabha candidate for the by-election from Bihar.A former Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Jois fought many high-profile cases during Emergency. He has also authored several books including the Dharma: The Global Ethic and Legal and Constitutional History of India. Jois, who is known for his association with the RSS, has also contributed to a book on the Ayodhya agitation.Educationist Prabhakar Kore, who joined the BJP on the eve of Assembly elections after quitting Congress, was also named the party candidate from the state. He heads the Karnataka Lingayat Education Society which runs several educational institutions in the state. The Central Election Committee authorised party president Rajnath Singh to decide on the remaining 20 votes of the party in the elections to Rajya Sabha.
