Amit Jogi, son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, might undergo a CBI lie-detector test in the course of investigations into the June 2003 Raipur murder of NCP treasurer Ram Avtar Jaggi.

Metropolitan Magistrate V K Khanna granted the CBI six days’ custody for Amit after sleuths said they had ‘‘concrete evidence’’ that he had masterminded the murder.

The CBI will now question Amit on the details of the conspiracy, the weapons and the money paid for the killing.

Ajit Jogi today said his son was the victim of a conspiracy by his political opponents. ‘‘Amit Jogi is innocent. He is being falsely implicated for political reasons,’’ he added. The former Chief Minister said the CBI case was ‘‘totally false’’, adding that Amit ‘‘was not even in Raipur when Jaggi’s murder took place’’.

Likening himself to Arjun in the Mahabharata, Jogi said of his opponents: ‘‘All of them are trying to corner Amit the way the Kauravas encircled Abhimanyu…’’ Asked which party the conspirators belonged to, Jogi said: ‘‘I will not specify anything — I will reveal their identity at the right time.’’

Queried how there could be a conspiracy against him when his party was ruling at the Centre, Jogi said the CBI was autonomous. ‘‘It is working directly under the direction of court and I have full faith in the judiciary,’’ he added.
