NEW DELHI, November 4: Jodhpur and HTH Insurance entered the semifinals of Baroda Cup (12 goal) polo tournament when they beat Army (Green) and Daniel Kashmir by 12-5 1/2 and 5 1/2-5, respectively, at the Jaipur polo grounds here today.

The Army (Green) was a seven-goal team while Jodhpur was a 12-goal team. Hence, the Army team started with a 3 1/2 goal on handicaps. Jodhpur scored three goals in each chukker while Army scored a goal in the second and third chukkers. Ramiro Garros, a 6-goal player from Argentina, scored six goals while jaisal Singh (3), Vishal Singh (2) and Nikhlendra Singh were the goal-getters for the winners. Manoj Dewan and V K Singh got one each for Army (Green).

In the other quarterfinal, Jason Dixon played a pivotal role in HTH Insurance’s vctory. He converted a 40-yard penalty for the winning goal. There will be no match in Baroda Cup tomorrow.

In the Field Marshal CAriappa Cup that began at the Army Equestrian Centre ground, Munirka defeated Jodhpur 3-21/2; Horse and Wagons downed Som Vihar by the same margin; Cavliers beat Panchsheel 51/2-21/2 and Aravali/Arty won over Gee Stud 41/2-3.

The goal-scorers included LA Singh, Dhruvpal Godara for Munirka while for Jodhpur Sangram Singh and Harshwardhan Sngh.

For Som Vihar S. Chopra, Jagat Singh and Uday Kalaan scored and for Horse and Wagons, Shakti Singh, N.S. Khera and Buchi Prakash were the goal-getters.

Bhasker Pathak and Jai Shergill scored for Panchsheel while S.K. Nayak, Ajit Singh and Sandeep Dewan scored for Cavliers.
