One person was injured and 3,137 people were taken into custody today as the dawn-to-dusk Jharkhand bandh passed off peacefully. Demanding a rehabilitation policy for those who will be displaced in the wake of proposed steel plants in the state, leaders of the JMM, the Congress, the RJD, the Left parties and the Adivasi Adhikar Morcha took out separate processions to enforce the bandh.Claiming the bandh to have been “total”, upa convener Stephen Marandi cautioned the state’s BJP-led nda government to “take a lesson” from the Kalinga Nagar incident in bjd-BJP ruled Orissa. —PTI
