NEW DELHI, NOV 11: Union Law Minister Ram Jethmalani today strongly favoured ``overhauling'' the existing model of criminal justice system instead of going for a new one.``There is no need for a new model. What we need is to repair the parts which have been eaten up by corrosive substances like incompetence and corruption,'' Jethmalani said inaugurating a two-day workshop on New Models of Accessible Justice, Special Focus on Women and Juveniles.Expressing anguish over ``incompetence'' in the system including that of ``police, prosecutors and judges,'' he said, ``when there is no incompetence there is corruption and in most cases again it is a combination of both.'' ``If a judge is corrupt whatever model you have, it will fail miserably," he remarked stressing on improving of character of individuals.
