PATNA, SEPT 20: Samata Party leader George Fernandes today said that Janata Dal (U) would move the court against Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi for making provocative remarks against the NDA nominee from Hajipur Lok Sabha seat Ram Vilas Paswan, a charge denied by her.

Addressing a press conference here, Fernandes claimed that three days ago, the Chief Minister, while addressing an election meeting at Rajapaker in Hajipur, had allegedly asked people to throw stones on Paswan.

“This is a clear incitement to murder,” Fernandes said, adding, “We can not afford to take it lightly. An FIR would be lodged and subsequently, we would move the court.”

The Chief Minister in a statement denied having said anything that would incite the people against Paswan.

But the Defence Minister alleged that Rabri Devi, who was ruling the State by “proxy”, was inciting people to kill the political rivals of her and her husband Laloo Prasad Yadav.

Referring to the attack and attempt to set afire the Bakhtiyarpur residence of Samata Party candidate from Barh and former railway minister Nitish Kumar, Fernandes said, “It was a deep-rooted conspiracy to annihilate Kumar and his family members.”

Fernandes said that Kumar’s family was sleeping when attempts were made to burn the house.

He charged RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav with fomenting caste tension and said the party had informed the governor and sought security to Kumar and his family members since “we can not expect any help from the present Government”.

Kumar’s house was attacked by around 250 RJD workers late last night in protest against the killing of an RJD activist Om Singh. They had even made an abortive attempt to set his home on fire.

The Defence Minister also rapped the State Government for printing excess ballot papers for Barh and Nalanda constituencies.

He said, “I have informed the Election Commission and the Home Ministry about the episode and had sought a thorough probe by a Central agency.”

Besides, he said that a writ petition had also been filed in the Patna High Court. “We will decide the future course of action after the court’s order,” he said.
