Margao, Feb 18: It’s too late to grumble about a killing schedule and a dissatisfying format as six sides emerging from the first phase brace for Super League Coca-Cola National Football League (NFL) action commencing here tomorrow.

Mohun Bagan (Calcutta), the defending champions, play Jagatjit Cotton Textiles, Phagwara, winners of the inaugural League (1997), in the opener at the Nehru Stadium where the first leg of the round-robin competition will be staged.

JCT have worked wonders with a young side deprived of big stars or foreigners. Coach Sukhwinder Singh attributes his team’s success in qualifying to hard work by his players. Sukhwinder, however, believes his team must cope with several disadvantages.

But Bagan coach PK Banerjee, who believes his team has yet to play to potential, scoffs at `home advantage’ in a particular bizarre context of his side’s campaign. An ankle injury to in-form mid-fielder RP Singh and a far message from the Kenyan Federation summoning defender Samuel Omollo fornational duty on Feb 28 has also upset Banerjee.
