CHENNAI, June 26: The AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalitha, and Janata Party President Dr Subramaniam Swamy, once bitter critics of each other, have decided to work together. The two met at the AIADMK party headquarters here to formalise the `understanding’. When the matter of the erstwhile rancour was brought up, Jayalalitha said "this is nothing new in politics. There are no permanent friends or foes". The AIADMK supremo said the question of an alliance could be gone into at the time of elections. She said she had not spoken to V Gopalsami, (with whose MDMK party the AIADMK has a "broad-based understanding"), about the new ties with the Janata Party. (Gopalsami is reportedly not very happy about the AIADMK-Janata Party understanding.
