LUDHIANA, JANUARY 20: Former champions JCT scored a solitary first-half goal win over fellow Punjab rivals BSF in the IV National Football League match on Thursday.

Forward Jaswinder Singh struck the all-important goal following a throw-in by wingback Daljit Singh in the 24th minute to give JCT full points and their first win after a defeat to Mumbai’s Mahindras and draws against FC Kochin and State Bank of Travancore.

JCT’s is on 13 points while BSF are at the bottom with four points.

Bagan fight back

MARGAO: Down by an early goal, former champions Mohun Bagan fought back to hold table toppers Churchill Brothers 1-1 at Nehru Stadium.

Churchill took lead in the fifth minute. Rockey Baretto back heeled the ball to the net after Bagan defenders Hussain Mustafi and Lolendro Singh failed to clear Somatai Shaiza’s grounder off a flag-kick.

The equaliser came in the 79th minute when Igor Shkivrin finished a counter move. Bagan ‘keeper Nandy cleared the ball which came to unmarked Igon viasubstitute Kasif Jamal and he placed it past the onrushing ‘keeper Edward Ansah.

EB, SBT draw

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: East Bengal, Calcutta and SBT Thiruvananthapuram, played a 2-2 draw.

Striker S Ignatius scored both goals for the bankmen in the seventh and 25th minutes of the game. Substitute forward Dipankar Roy and mid-fielder Emmanuel Opoku found the net for East Bengal in the 84th and 87th minutes respectively.
