After declaring terrorism as anti-Islamic, the Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind is all set to launch a website to clarify misconceptions regarding Islam. Jamiat, one of the leading Islamic organisations in the country, had hit the headlines recently by organising a massive rally in Delhi where clerics from every state came together to issue a fatwa against terror.
The decision to launch a website was taken at the executive council of the organisation that met here on Wednesday. According to Jamiat leaders, the website would clarify doubts raised against Islam and all queries would be academically reviewed in order to remove misunderstandings pertaining to the religion.
The executive council meeting, chaired by JUH president Maulana Qari Syed Mohammad Usman, was of the view that “there’s a need for a website whereby allegations against Islamic teachings, Quranic commandments, and Prophet Muhammad could be countered in an academic way”.
Jamiat spokesperson and secretary Moulana Abdul Hameed Nomani, who is also convener of the committee said: “We hope that the website would clear the air and would allay prejudices against Islam.” The Jamiat’s plan to launch the website last year was stalled due to infighting. Jamiat leader and RLD MP Maulana Mahmood Madani had deputed graduates from Darul Uloom Deoband, who were conversant with both English and Arabic.
