CHANDIGARH, MARCH 22: Local Member of Parliament Satya Pal Jain has requested the Prime Minister and Union Law Minister for clearing the names of judges for appointment in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Jain, in a meeting with them, has said work was suffering in view of the shortage of judges in the HC.

According to sources, names of four new judges are being considered by the Centre for appointment as judges of the High Court here, which had earlier been recommended by the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana HC and reportedly cleared by the Chief Justice of India and sent to the Union Government for final clearance. At present, against a required strength of 40 judges, 26 judges are working in High Court.
