MUMBAI, DEC 18: Mumbai experienced their best batting day of the Hindustan Inks West Zone under-22 cricket tournament at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday. That they came good on the opening day of the summit clash against Maharashtra should provide some solace to the team which has a had roller-coaster ride in the event.

Pushkaraj Jadhav (batting 71: 161b, 226m, 10×4), celebrating his inclusion into the Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad, led the batting honours as the home team ended the day on 252-4. The left-handed Jadhav, who had scored a century against Saurashtra in the tournament opener, once again exhibited his hunger for runs while compiling 99 runs for the fourth wicket with Saket Adhikari, whose contribution in the unbroken association was worth 46 (132b, 150m, 8×4).

Earlier, Maharashtra’s decision to put Mumbai into bat failed to pay any dividend, as the Mumbai openers Hrishikesh Shende (17) and Manish Bangera (39) raised 57 runs for the first wicket.
