CHUTTI SINGHPORA, MARCH 22: An angry mob ensured that the dead bodies remained out of bounds for the local politicians and state ministers, smashing the window panes of the vehicles of the three visiting ministers, even as the police opened fire to disperse them.Sikhs from all over the Valley converged at the village to show their solidarity with those who lost their relatives in last night's massacre. The gurudwara, where the bodies were lined up, reverberated with the sound of wailing. At least six women lost consciousness. An old woman, wailing at the entrance of the gurudwara asked every passerby why her son had been killed.``We don't need any ex-gratia relief and nor would we listen to any political speech,'' one among the villagers told the ministers - Works Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar, Urban Development Minister Ghulam Mohideen Shah and Minister of State for Home, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone. ``They are all thieves and are hand-in-glove with the militants. We will not allow them to go inside the gurduwra to see our dead,'' he said. There was so much anger that even journalists were not allowed to come near the massacre site for an hour on Tuesday morning. A press photographer was beaten up and two cameras of the Doordarshan Kendra, Srinagar, were also damaged. As the mob went out of control, police personnel fired about 70 rounds in the air. Only then could the ministers be taken away from the village. Demanding that Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal should bisit the village, an elder said: ``We don't want to conduct the last rites of our dead here, we want the bodies to be flown to Delhi.''Later in the day, Akali leader Simranjeet Singh Mann accompanied by State BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Chaman Lal Gupta arrived here in the afternoon and urgd the people to conduct the last rites of the Chief minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, who reached the village late in the evening, was also greeted with anti-State Government slogans. He, however, did not stay put too long because of security reasons.
